But as a people you are concerned with the needs of family members and so refer old men who seem rather plain as 'Mister' and if they are particularly downcast 'sir' or with excuse me because each person is depended on by members of society and these social members are as resolved in their routines as any housewife asking a store clerk for eggs.

Since you are born into a social background which is associated with crime and you already don't have dignity because every psychiatrist suspects you of being a criminal, you are a prisoner to society. Because you are not innocent by shame of being born into a lower or middle class home your relationship to society is that of a criminal who is guilty by observation of the lack of intelligence resulting from cognitive deprivation and a diet that is mostly scarce in the seeds and fruit and free range meat of your paleolithic ancestors.

But the military has room for advancement. Surely this must give them some dignity, so we'll call the military a ranks system. Well that only gives prisoners dignity as long as the functions of the system are more important than things the public wants out of them like embezellment advice or job connections. So we should think of the military as a work hierarchy because that is all they can do as a system subject to expert management.
